Cable and internet service provider Hathway Cable and Datacom Ltd is working with over the top content providers to offer free content to its subscribers in three months. The customers will also have access to free cloud, says Rajan Gupta, Managing Director, Hathway.

Speaking to BusinessLine at an event to announce actor R Madhavan as the brand ambassador, Gupta said with the advent of Netflix combined with rise in viewership for Indian web series, consumption of home broadband has increased in recent times.

To tap this market, Gupta said the company is in talks with a couple of players to offer free access to select web series and other OTT offerings for its consumers in three months.

“Also to make download hassle free, we will offer free cloud services soon,” he added. The details for both are being worked out.

The company recently launched its high-speed fibre to home broadband internet service at ₹999 for 1000 GB data at 150 mbps speed and ₹1299 for 1000 GB data at 200 mbps speed. Currently South and Central Chennai will be able to avail of the service and it will be extended to other parts of Chennai by year end.

Gupta said work is in progress to roll out the service in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
