With the exponential growth of digital content, content discovery and distribution are the two biggest challenges for digital video platforms, according to industry executives.
Mahindra Comviva, Tech Mahindra’s mobile solutions provider arm, has entered into a partnership with content aggregator Sacom Mediaworks to source videos for its video-on-demand platforms.
As part of the deal, Mumbai-based Sacom Mediaworks, which caters to emerging markets in South America, Asia-Pacific and Africa, will provide a broad range of content for the Mahindra Group company’s digital marketplace, Mooditt Digital Store.

Mooditt Digital Store brings the entire ecosystem of content providers, application providers and distribution channels on a single platform and leverages multiple channels of content distribution like web, mobile applications, WAP, DTH, Radio, TV, IPTV, Text, and IVR for seamless distribution.

“We will be working together to grow the reach and monetisation potential of our content together and offer our entertainment IPs and VOD (video-on-demand) content in Hollywood, Arabic and Bollywood genres for Middle East, Africa, Russia, CIS countries and Asia-Pacific,” said Dinesh Gupta, director, Sacom Mediaworks.

With the exponential growth of digital content, content discovery and distribution are the two biggest challenges for digital video platforms in today’s world, as per industry leaders. As the environment is getting fragmented further, distribution channels need to get access to right content in minimum possible time, while content providers, especially small-time artists and independent content creators, are struggling to maximise reach and dial up monetisation.

“Mooddit Digital Store addresses the twin problems of reach and discoverability of content and deserves a more robust content library to implement at scale,” Gupta said.

Atul Madan, senior vice president, digital lifestyle solutions, Mahindra Comviva said: “This partnership puts us on a stronger footing in the Middle East and Africa. Our expertise in end-to-end content management, combined with Sacom’s robust catalogue of Arab, Asian and Hollywood video content, will lead to new growth opportunities in the region.”

Sacom Mediaworks’ global content portfolio includes more than 10,000 hours of video content spanning genres such as feature films, television series, short films, live entertainment events, celebrity chat shows, and health and fitness shows.

Mahindra Comviva brings the pedigree of Mahindra and Bharti Airtel Group and has consolidated their position as a leading player in telecom and mobility solutions domains with presence in four continents and over 70 countries.
