    JSW Steel to supply 1.5 lakh tonne of TMT Rebars to metro rail projects in FY20

    Synopsis

    JSW Steel is supplying to metro rail projects in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow & Ahmedabad. The ongoing supplies, as well as those already completed during the current fiscal, will boost JSW Steel’s supplies to Metro rail projects by more than Rs 600 crore following successful completion of these deliveries.

    Kolkata: JSW Steel has set a target of supplying 1.5 lakh tonne of TMT Rebars to metro rail projects across the country in FY2019-20, compared to an annual average of one lakh tonne in the past few years. The company supplied more than 30,000 metric tonnes of JSW Neosteel TMT Rebars for construction of Metro projects in various Indian cities in the last two months. With this, its overall supplies of the Rebars for metro construction projects has crossed 85,000 tonnes in the current financial year, which is more than half of its target for the current fiscal.
    JSW Steel, part of the JSW Group, is supplying to metro rail projects in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow & Ahmedabad. The ongoing supplies, as well as those already completed during the current fiscal, will boost JSW Steel’s supplies to Metro rail projects by more than Rs 600 crore following successful completion of these deliveries. The company bagged these metro rail orders through key (engneering procurement construction) EPC partners with ongoing supply arrangements. The various metro rail projects are expected to cumulatively add over 760 kilometre of urban rail transit lines to India’s fast expanding metro network.

    Commenting on it, Jayant Acharya, Director – Commercial, Marketing & Corporate Strategy for JSW Steel said: “Over the last few months, we have completed large supplies of high grade JSW Neosteel TMT Rebars to these Metro Rail Projects and continue to stay on track to service the ongoing order pipeline."

    Metro construction activities are being undertaken in a big way in India including expansion of existing metro network with respective state governments having cumulatively earmarked more than US$ 50 billion to construct the current phase of over 760 km of metro lines. These rail-based ‘Mass Rapid Transit Systems’ have been widely accepted as a solution for most of traffic and pollution related problems being faced in major cities across the world.
