Rolta bags $15 million smart city project in Middle East

IT firm Rolta India has bagged smart city and 3D mapping projects in the Middle East worth about $15 million (Rs 95.7 crore).

The company, however, did not disclose the details of the client.

"Through our expertise with hundreds of smartcities client engagements, Rolta is helping cities around the world transform how they deliver services and engage with citizens leveraging technologies like Big Data, analytics, GIS, 3D Mapping, Mobility and Social Media," Rolta Chairman and Managing Director K K Singh said.

"Rolta's smart city solutions consolidate numerous agency centric systems, while 3D mapping offers visually rich means of collaboration and communication of spatial data", it said.

Modelling a city in 3D involves deployment of technologies such as aerial oblique imaging, photogrammetric mapping, street-view imaging, GPS surveys, laser-scanning and integration of numerous data sources.

Rolta had carried out a project for establishing a large 3D map for Dubai and has also bagged a similar deal from the Sultanate of Oman.
