Mr. Virendra D. Mhaiskar

Mr. Virendra D. Mhaiskar, has been the Chairman and Managing Director of IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited since December 2006 . He has become the first Marathi manoos to figure at number 51 in the Forbes list of 100 richest Indians and third youngest in the rich list. 

He is a leader with a vision and strong business acumen, with sharp Communication and Management skills It was Mr. Mhaiskar who implemented the concept of private-public participation (PPP) for the first time in the state when IRB constructed the Thane-Bhiwandi by pass in 1995. In 1998, he successfully promoted IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited as a primary holding company. The firm is today one of the biggest infrastructure companies in the country with a mammoth portfolio of over 15 BOT (build-operate-transfer) projects, of which more than 11 are operational.

 

Experience & Specialisation

 

As a Civil Engineer, he has hands on experience of more than 18 years in the Construction and Infrastructure Industry to his credit. He is responsible for developing new business, executing road construction and BOT (build-operate-transfer) projects. He is providing overall vision and strategy to the Company. He joined the IRB Group at the age of 19 ( June 1990 ). He serves as Director of IRB Surat Dahisar Tollway Pvt. Ltd. and Ideal Road Builders Pvt. Ltd. He serves as a Non-Independent and Executive Director of IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd.

 

Qualification

The soft-spoken Mhaiskar is known to keep a low profile but is highly admired for his entrepreneurship and professional leadership. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Shriram Polytechnic, Navi Mumbai. In personal front this Entrepreneur makes a wonderful couple with Mrs. Deepali Mhaiskar.
