Sougata has graduated from the MS-MBA dual degree program at Boston University School of Management, USA. The dual degree comprised of an MBA with concentration in Finance and an MS in Information Systems. He is a CFA Level 3 candidate and has a Bloomberg Global Product Certification in the Equities track.

After the MS-MBA, he started working as Manager, Investor Relations at Tata Steel Group's corporate headquarters at Bombay House. Currently he manages the Treasury operations that includes Tata Steel’s liquidity, cash and investments, foreign exchange as well as relationships with financial service providers/banks. 

Prior to Tata Steel, he has worked as an Investment Consultant at UBS to manage portfolios of high net worth individuals. As an MBA intern at Ardour Capital Investments, he has developed financial models for valuation and wrote sell-side equity research reports. He has also worked as a Financial Analyst intern in a venture capital firm at Boston.
