Dr. Murtaza Khorakiwala

Dr. Murtaza H. Khorakiwala is Managing Director  of Wockhardt Ltd.  since March 31, 2009. Dr. Murtaza Khorakiwala joined Wockhardt in 2000. He is responsible for the overall management and operations of the company.

He has been the driving force behind Wockhardt’s Global Strategic Planning.  His young , dynamic leadership has become an ideal springboard for various corporate initiatives in creating a New Wockhardt.

Dr Murtaza is the son of the founder Mr. Habil Khorakiwala who is a renouned personality in his own right.  Mr. Murtaza to his credit has steered Wockhardt through its toughest times since the Lehman Crises. Wockhardt has cleared those hurdles and its Debt situation is now at  extremely positive levels of less than 1 from over 5 times just a few years ago.

The turning point for Wockhardt came with Mr. Murtaza's vision for 2012: with the bye line of  “More and more with less and less.”  with a focus on efficiency and optimization; He ensured use of technology in a big way, to automate various activities. 

Qualification 

Quite a unique combination of a Degree in Medicine combined with a degree in Business Management .

Dr. Khorakiwala graduated in medicine from the prestigious GS Medical College in 1995, Mumbai. He then went on to complete his Postgraduation as Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Illinois, USA in 2000.  

Other  Positions &  Activities

Dr Khorakiwala  is a member of the executive committee of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA),  was also Past Chairman of the Marketing Committee of the Bombay Management Association.

He is a member of the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier.
