Mr. Himanshu Kapania

Mr. Himanshu Kapania serves as the Head of Telecom Business of Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited. Mr. Kapania served as the Managing Director of Telecom at Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited.
He has been the Managing Director of Idea Cellular Ltd. at Axiata Group Berhad and Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd. since April 1, 2011. Mr. Kapania is a telecom industry veteran.
Previously, he served at idea from 1997 to 2003, where he managed Circle Operations and was responsible for managing its operations in the service areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat, and launched services in Delhi Metro. He worked with Reliance Infocomm Ltd., where he was responsible for its operations in the northern region. He rejoined Idea in 2006, and was instrumental in driving its growth in South and Western India.
He was responsible for strengthening Idea’s dominance in established service areas, while launching services in new service areas and expanding brand presence in other major markets in India. He served as Deputy Managing Director of Idea Cellular Ltd, until April 1, 2011. He served as the Managing Director of Telecom at Aditya Birla Nuvo Limited. He served as the Chief Operating Officer - Corporate and Director of Operations for Idea Cellular Ltd. He joined Idea in September 2006.
He has 21 years of industry experience. He served with Reliance Infocomm as Chief Executive Officer for Northern Operations covering Punjab, Haryana and HP for three years. He served with IDEA Cellular Ltd., as Chief Operating Officer for over six years. He served with Network Ltd., as Deputy General Manager of Marketing for three and a half years.
He served with Shriram Honda as Manager Marketing for over three years. He served with DCM Toyota as Senior Executive for five years. He served as Chairman of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), since August 1, 2012 until July 2014. He served as Vice Chairperson of Cellular Operators Association of India since July 2011. He serves as a Director of Idea Cellular Ltd.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, India from 1979 to 1983 and postgraduate studies from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India from 1988 to 1990.
