Mr.Aman Mehta
Non-Executive Independent Director
Mr. Aman M. Mehta has been the General Manager of Medical at Tata Power Company Ltd., since October 16, 1976. Mr. Mehta served as the Chief Executive Officer of Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited from 1999 to December 2003 and also served as a Group General Manager of HSBC Holdings PLC since 1991.
He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at HSBA USA Inc., since 1993. He retired from HSBC after 36 years of service in 2003. He joined HSBC group in Bombay in 1967 and was appointed Manager - Corporate Planning at group headquarters in Hong Kong in 1985. He served as Managing Director of The Saudi British Bank.
After a three-year posting to Riyadh, he was appointed Group General Manager in 1991 and re-appointed as General Manager, International in February 1998 and Executive Director International in May 1998. Mr. Mehta has 40 years of experience in the banking industry.
He started his career at the Mercantile Bank Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He served as the Chairman of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad from January 1, 1999 to December 2003. He served as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of HSBC Bank Middle East, based in Dubai, with responsibility for the HSBC Group's operations in the Middle East since 1995. He serves as an Non-Executive Independent Director of Max India Limited.
He has been an Independent & Non Executive Director of Emaar MGF Land Limited since September 19, 2007, Tata Consultancy Services Limited since May 5, 2004, PCCW Ltd. since February 10, 2004 and Jet Airways (India) Ltd since September 29, 2004.
He has been a Non-Executive & Independent Director of Godrej Consumer Products Limited since April 26, 2006. He has been Independent Non-Executive Director of Hkt Management Limited at HKT Trust and HKT Limited since May 8, 2014. He has been a Non-Executive & Independent Director of Wockhardt Ltd. since February 12, 2004.
He has been a Director of Vedanta Resources Plc since November 2004 and its Senior Independent Director since August 1, 2013. He serves as Non-Executive and Independent Director at Cairn Energy India Pty Limited. He has been a Non-Executive and Independent Director at Cairn India Limited since September 21, 2006.
He also serves as a Director of PCCW Hong Kong Telecom Ltd. and MAX Healthcare Institute Ltd. He served as a Director of Raffles Holdings Ltd., since January 14, 2004 and PCCW-HKT Limited since February 10, 2004. He serves as a Member of the Governing Board of Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations, New Delhi.
He also serves as Member of the International Advisory Panel of Prudential of America. He served as a Member of the International Advisory Panel of CapitaLand Limited. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board of NN Group N.V. and ING Bank N.V. until May 14, 2012. He served as a Director at HSBC Bank Australia Limited.
He is also a Member of the Advisory Council of INSEAD, France. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at ING Groep NV from April 22, 2008 to May 14, 2012. Mr. Mehta holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors degree in Economics from the University of Delhi in 1967 and has since participated in numerous Management Programmes.
