Mr. Akhil Kumar Gupta, CA, served as Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bharti Infratel Limited, a Tower Infrastructure Unit of Bharti Enterprises Limited since August 2008 and from August 2008 to April 1, 2014 respectively. Mr. Gupta served as Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises Limited since April 1, 2007 and served as its Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer since August 2008. He was closely associated with various strategic, financial, mergers and acquisitions and business performance issues and transformational initiatives for Bharti. He has over 30 years of professional experience.

He has played a pivotal role in Bharti’s phenomenal growth having been closely involved from the very beginning in the telecommunication services business. He has led the formation of various partnerships for Bharti with leading international companies and investors. He served as Joint Managing Director of Comviva Technologies Limited and Bharti Telesoft Ltd. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Bharti Airtel Ltd. until April 1, 2007 and served as its Joint Managing Director until August 1, 2008. Mr. Gupta served as Director of Operation at Intex Technologies (India)Ltd. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Bharti Telecom from 1994 to 2001.

He has spearheaded several innovative initiatives that include the outsourcing deals undertaken by Bharti in the areas of information technology (IT), network management, outsourcing of Call Centres management and separation of tower infrastructure of Bharti Airtel and forming Indus Towers a Joint Venture with Vodafone and Idea. He has been Executive Chairman of Bharti Infratel Limited since April 1, 2014 and served as its Vice Chairman until April 1, 2014.
