Mr. R Mukundan 

Managing Director

Mr. Ramakrishnan Mukundan, B.E.(Elec), MBA has been the Managing Director of Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) since November 2008 and also serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Mukundan served as the Executive President and Chief Operating Officer of Chemicals Business (India) at Tata Chemicals Ltd., where he wassin responsible for the chemicals business and consumer products business of it and its subsidiaries. He served as Head of Mithapur Chemical Complex at Tata Chemicals.

He joined TCL in 2001 and led various functions like strategy and business development, corporate quality, corporate planning, and manufacturing. He played an active role in TCL transformation efforts in 2002, and also in the growth of domestic business as well as acquisition of new facilities in Brunner-Mond (UK), Magadi Soda (Kenya) and General Chemicals (US). He joined Tata Administrative Service (TAS) in 1990. He worked with Tata AutoComp Systems and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL).

He served as an Executive Officer of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL). He served as a General Manager, Corporate Planning of Tata Auto Comp Systems Limited. During his 18-year career with Tata Group, he has held various responsibilities including strategy & business development, corporate quality, corporate planning, projects, etc. across the Chemical, Automotive and Hospitality sectors of the Tata Group. Mr. Mukundan has been Chairman of CII Western Region at Confederation of Indian Industry since March 22, 2013.

He served as a Deputy Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry since 2012. He has been an Non Independent Non Executive Director of Rallis India Limited since December 2009. Mr. Mukundan has been an Executive Director at Tata Chemicals Limited since November 26, 2008 and EPM Mining Ventures Inc., since October 2011. He has been a Director of Tata International Limited since July 29, 2010. He serves as Director of Metahelix Life Sciences Ltd. He served as the President of Alkali Manufacturers Association of India.

He served as an Executive Member of Automotive Components Manufacturers Association and a Member of CII chemical industry forum and Indian Chemical Council. He is a member of the CII National Council and has Chaired the CII National Committee on Chemicals (2011-12). He has been a member of the CII Western Regional Council. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Programme. He holds a BE in Electronics from IIT Roorkee and holds an MBA from faculty of management studies (FMS), New Delhi.
