Mr. Peter James Jonathan Bains has been the Chief Executive Officer of Syngene International Ltd. since February 2, 2015. Mr. Bains serves as a Senior Advisor of Phase4 Partners Limited. Mr. Bains has been a Consultant specializing in supporting strategic growth opportunities in small- and medium-sized innovation-based life science companies since 2009. He has more than two decades of experience in the global pharmaceutical space encompassing strategic and operational leadership expertise across global geographies, functions and business segments. Mr. Bains served as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing of SmithKline Beecham. He served as Senior Vice President, International Commercial Development, GlaxoSmithKline.

Mr. Bains held a 23-year career at GlaxoSmithKline, where he held multiple senior roles including General Manager of China, Head of Global Marketing and Senior Vice President of International Commercial Operations. He serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Fermenta Biotech Limited and has been its Non-Executive Director since March 9, 2010. He has been an External Director of Sosei Group Corporation since June 2010. Mr. Bains serves as Non-Executive Director of Syngene and Phase4 Partners Limited. He serves as a Director of Heptares Therapeutics Ltd. He serves as Director of Syngene International Limited and served as Director of Biocon Limited since 2010. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Kromek Group plc from August 30, 2013 to December 16, 2015. He served as Member of Clinical Advisory Board for Biocon Limited. He served as Non-Executive Director of Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals Limited from July 26, 2005 to July 27, 2009. He has a global perspective with a forte in Emerging Markets, in particular China and India. Mr. Bains has been a Director of Syngene International Ltd. since January 20, 2010. He served as a Director of SmithKline Beecham and Peter Bains Consulting Limited. Mr. Bains graduated from the University of Sheffield as BSc Combined Hons in Physiology/Zoology.
