Rajendra R. Deshpande, who is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, joined erstwhile Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited in July 1977. He has worked for the Small, Medium and Large Engines Business Groups of the Company. He started the Ancillary Development Department in the Company.

During his tenure as a Business Unit Head, Medium Engines Business Group became the largest Strategic Business Unit amongst the Kirloskar Group. He has also played a vital role in commencement of plant at Kagal. Presently he is working as Executive Director of Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited.

Mr. Rajendra Ramchandra Deshpande has been the Joint Managing Director and Whole-Time Director of Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited since April 29, 2015.

Mr. Deshpande has been an Executive Director of Operations of Kirloskar Industries Ltd. since March 31, 2010. Mr. Deshpande served as an Executive Director of Medium & Small Engines of Kirloskar Industries Ltd since April 29, 2005. Mr. Deshpande served as an Executive Officer of Kirloskar Engines India Ltd.

Mr. Deshpande has been an Executive Director of Kirloskar Industries Ltd., since April 29, 2005. Mr. Deshpande has been a Non Executive Director of Swaraj Engines Ltd. since January 2008.

He served as an Executive Director at Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited from March 31, 2010 to April 2015. Mr. Deshpande served as an Executive Director of Kirloskar Industries Ltd. since until 31, 2010.
