Ms. Ekaterina Alexandra Sharashidze

Ms. Ekaterina Alexandra Sharashidze has been an Independent Director at Punj Lloyd Ltd. since December 28, 2010. From 2010 to 2012,She serves as a Director of Ludgate Investments Ltd. She is a anaging Partner at Ocean Capital Holding. Ms. Sharashidze has over 15 years of experience in private equity, management consulting, and investment banking at Booz & Co., Goldman Sachs and the United Nations. She served in the Government of Georgia for five years as Minister of Economic Development, Chief of Staff and Chief Economic Advisor to the President. As the Minister of Economy, Ms. Sharashidze spearheaded major economic reforms coupled with aggressive privatization, liberalization, deregulation and elimination of trade barriers. She led Georgia to 11th place in the ‘World Bank Ease of Doing Business’ ranking, achieve 12 percent economic growth and attract FDI equal to 18 percent of GDP through her investor relations with over 300 private and institutional investors. In addition, Ms. Sharashidze executed infrastructure projects of approximately $2 billion; restructured, merged or liquidated close to 500 state enterprises; and privatized assets valued at more than $600 million. She played a major role in the debut of the Sovereign Eurobond US$500 million.

 

Ms. Sharashidze was a leading member of the cabinet in charge of stabilization of the Georgian economy and its financial sector by securing a US$750 million IMF stand-by arrangement and a $4.5 billion multi-donor aid package throughout the world financial crisis. Furthermore, she has represented Georgia in numerous bilateral and multilateral negotiations. he served as an Executive Director and Member of Board of Directors of Samena Capital, where she had a special responsibility of expanding the Samena brand with a leading role in business development, developing investor relations, identifying direct investment opportunities, and evaluating new strategic partnerships. Ms. Sharashidze served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Renaissance Services SAOG, from February 2011 to May 2013.

 

She was instrumental in creating the Financial Services Authority of Georgia and served as its Founder and Vice Chair of the Board. Ms. Sharashidze holds an M.A. in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, an M.B.A. from MIT Sloan School of Management, a B.A. in Economics and English from St. Joseph’s University, and a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Pennsylvania.
