Mr. Laurent Demortier

Mr. Laurent Demortier has been the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Crompton Greaves Ltd. since June 2011. He has handled the Globalisation of Crompton Greaves very proficiently. Under Mr. Demortier, Crompton has adeptly managed a turnaround in performance despite challenging global economic conditions and a major shuffle within Crompton of its manufacturing facilities in Europe.

Experience & Specialisation

In his 25 years of, career Mr Demortier has led divestment, integration, acquisition, turnaround and organic growth mandates across the Americas, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa, with considerable exposure to emerging markets.

Mr. Demortier has worked in very Senioer positions with Global majors in the Power Equipment sector.

With Alstom Power Sector he was in-charge of the Power Automation and Control Business Unit. He joined Alstom in the year 2000 and has led several Business Units (BU) both in T&D and Power sectors. During his eleven years with Alstom, Mr Demortier has spent eight years within Transmission and Distribution (T&D) and the last three years within the Power Business.

Prior to Alstom, Mr Demortier has experience with Honeywell Corporation between 1990 and 2000. At Honeywell, Mr Demortier held several senior responsibilities as Managing Director of the European Advanced Control Engineering Business; Head of the Industrial Automation & Control Division France, Head of the European Measurement and Control BU; and, Country President for Honeywell France.

Qualification & Position

Mr. Demortier holds an MBA Degree from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA and a Masters Engineering Degree in Physics from Ecole Centrale Marseille, France.

He is also Member of the Shareholders / Investor Grievances Committee at Crompton.
