Dr. Yeshwant Laxman Nene is Non-Executive Independent Director of Kaveri Seed Company Ltd. Dr. Nene did his PhD from the University of Illinois, Urbana, US. Dr Nene is renowned plant pathologist and science administrator, A renowned plant pathologist and science administrator, Dr Yeshwant Laxman Nene did his PhD from the University of Illinois, Urbana, US.

Dr Nene has published many scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and guided several PhD students. He has been Professor and Head of the Department of Plant Pathology at GB Pant University of Agriculture, Pantnagar; has served as a member of the Governing Body of ICAR, and, established in 1994 the non-profit Asian Agri History Foundation that brings out publications linking Vedic culture with Agriculture.

Dr. Yeshwant Laxman Nene served as Assistant, Associate, Professor and Head of the Department of Plant Pathology at GB Pant University of Agriculture, Pantnagar from 1960 to 1974.

Dr. Nene is running an Agricultural Heritage of India Foundation with the support from many well known professionals. He has been a Non Executive Independent Director at Kaveri Seed Co. Ltd. since January 18, 2007. fter intensive research on rice crops, he managed to solve the mystery of the rice disease known as khaira.

This feat earned him the International Rice Research Prize in a world wide Competition, organized by FAO to commemorate the "International Rice Year 1966". He is recognized internationally as an eminent plant pathologist and an authority on pulses such as Pigeonpea (Toor), Chick Pea (Gram), Mungbeen and several others.

Dr. Nene obtained bachelor's degree in Science, majoring in agriculture, from Agra University in 1955 and master's degree in agriculture from the same university in 1957. He obtained doctorate degree in Plant Pathology (Plant Virology) from the University of Illinois, U.S.A.
